If you have read my other Christian Debt Consolidation post you will know that I believe in this simple process to become debt free from credit cards.
With that said, I do have one word of warning. While a Christian debt consolidation loan is far from some type of sinister scam your creditors and other money guys pull over on unsuspecting victims, you do have to be careful to ensure your unsecured debt goes away without creating other payments that you can’t handle either.
And here is how.
This form of ‘debt reduction’ is not like debt settlement where your debt goes away, but when Christians use debt consolidation companies to find debt relief, it does exactly what you want, it lowers your
interest rates, compresses your bills from many payments into one payment and frees up extra spending money each and every month.
But, it also gives you the opportunity to continue spending the new freed up cash that you are saving from the work of your debt consolidation company.
And with continued, uncontrolled (or regulated) spending comes the real chance that even with Christian credit counseling and great debt consolidation services you could make your financial situation even worse than what you are trying to get out of.
So when you decide that a Christian debt consolidation loan is the way you want to escape the money trap you have fallen in, just be careful that you also are committed to debt counseling, good money management and controlled spending.
I know it sounds cliche, but a budget will be your best friend when you do decide it’s time to sign up with the Christian debt consolidation programs that are right for you. More so than your counselor, more than your “will” to put credit card debt behind you and be debt free. It is your plan and your budget (that helps you stick to the plan) that will ensure you stay on the path to debt free living.
For me, the idea of a budget is not awesome. In fact, I hate budgeting and tried to find every reason why a budget was not for me. But in the end, I gave in and it really made all the difference to successful debt management.
In fact, I have seen family and friends who went through a Christian debt consolidation program and even bankruptcy only to find themselves back in the same position 5-10 years down the road because they never fixed the source of their credit debt problem.
